Is it because you'd rather he be dead than in emotional turmoil?

Umm... not so sure. After I left my ex who was an alcoholic (I'd spent years trying to help her... wouldnt be helped), I once wished she could just die. Mhm, I felt really bad for thinking it, but she was very, very bad and in a lot of trouble emotionally, mentally and physically.

Last year I got a very nice if sad letter from her parents informing she was dead and invited me to her funeral. She had died aged 29. So I'm pretty much torn with regards of thinking or wishing what is or not best for someone in deep turmoil and ill-health.

In saying that PassioniOfMe, I really don't know what to say or offer you.

You are a terrible friend.

Maybe you should STOP being his friend because he obviously deserves better than someone like you.
