Depression is real. I know that because I live with it every day. So do a lot of people. But there are things that could make depression easier to live with. One would be to actually have money to physically support myself. Another would be having an actual partner to emotionally and mentally support me. So when I hear about someone who has EVERYTHING -- fame, fortune, friends, partners -- I don't understand how they can make the decision to pull the trigger. That doesn't go for someone living with a terminal illness or condition (in the case of Robin Williams, whose death I have come to accept). I just watched the last episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, and that's what triggered this thought space.
Yes, depression is real. But he had so much to live for. People like that have no excuse. The only people who should be allowed to kill themselves are poor people and ugly people who can't find someone. Those are the only circumstances in which people can kill themselves.
