The more mind and energy you pay to any emotion, the stronger it will become and the more apt you are to feel it.

What you can do is focus on the positive in the situation as a rule. Work your mind into always and first looking into the positive, and keep it.
When dealing with unpleasant emotions, I find it's best to just push them as far away from your main train of thought as possible. Keep yourself busy and distracted until time takes its toll and the hurt feelings aren't nearly so fresh and sore. Emotional pain is a lot like physical pain in that regard; leave it alone, take a few numbing tablets, barely pay the hurt any mind and you tend to find that your body has a way of taking care of itself. Your feelings are the same as that. Aside from a faded out scar, you come out good as new. ..Well, either that or with a significant infection.
