Can I tell you a story?

And so he did. A man who was sitting at the park, contemplating. He approached us, and told us his story, as a recovering heroine and alcohol addict. He said he had to work up the courage to come over and talk to us. I was glad he did. It was a very intense, emotional moment for him and us. He was 11 days sober.

Aw, maybe with ducks. Though, I didn't feel like doing an elaborate, lengthy story about the whole incident. I did the ''lack-of-a-story'' thing intentionally, maybe due to laziness. Hm, very familiar.

Not a very good story then. It's unclear, and doesn't really flow. Try a rewrite. Make him into an artistically savvy but down on his luck illegal immigrant with a burning desire to make a mural before dying from a terminal disease, like herpes. Cast yourself as the dashingly attractive, yet mildly insecure main lead, who is trying to develop a meaningful relationship with an estranged parent/sibling.

Maybe include a duck. Everyone likes stories with ducks in them. Very canny creatures, ducks.

He apprached us afterward, genius. Yeah, everyone was ten feet away from him and he sat three feet away from me. I was ready to grab my bike and go, ha.

He was in a wheelchair was he? Because it might be kind of hard for him to approach you while sitting. Unless he was doing that scooting his butt across the ground like a dog does when it has worms or something.
